A singer and composer from India, Arijit Singh was born on April 25, 1987. He is the recipient of numerous honours, including a National Film Award and six Filmfare Awards, and he has songs in many Indian languages. One of the best and most adaptable playback singers of our generation, he is considered as such. Together with his modest demeanour and straightforward way of living, he is well recognised.
Prior to the 2013 releases of "Tum Hi Ho" and "Chahun Main Ya Naa," Singh's career was launched when he took part in the popular reality programme Fame Gurukul in 2005.
He was named by Spotify as the most streamed Indian musician of 2020, 2021, and 2022.
EARLY TIMES:
Arijit Singh was born on April 25, 1987 in Jiaganj, Murshidabad, West Bengal to Aditi Singh, a Bengali Hindu mother, and Kakkar Singh, a Punjabi Sikh father. During the Partition, his paternal family relocated from Lahore. At a very young age, he started receiving instruction in music at home. His maternal grandma liked to sing, and his maternal aunt studied Indian classical music. His mother sang and played the tabla, as did his maternal uncle. He attended Raja Bijay Singh High School before continuing his education at Sripat Singh College, a school connected to the University of Kalyani. His parents chose to put him through professional training because, in his words, he "was a decent student, but cared more about music." He received instruction in Indian classical music.by Rajendra Prasad Hazari and tabla instruction from Dhirendra Prasad Hazari. He was taught pop music and Rabindra Sangeet (songs written and performed by Rabindranath Tagore) by Birendra Prasad Hazari. He began training with the Hazari brothers when he was three years old, and at the age of nine he received a government scholarship to pursue vocal studies in Indian classical music.
He grew up listening to Bengali, Mozart, and Beethoven classical music.
He admired artists like Kishore Kumar, Hemant Kumar, and Manna Dey and adored Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Ustad Rashid Khan, Zakir Hussain, and Anand Chatterjee.
Singh had the opportunity to collaborate with Sajid-Wajid and A. R. Rahman, two of his favourite music producers, in 2014. He sang two tracks on Main Tera Hero, the song "Raat Bhar" from Heropanti for Sajid-Wajid,and dubbed the Hindi version of "Medhuvaagathaan" from Kochadaiiyaan, renamed "Dil Chaspiya" for A. R. Rahman. He sang three re-mixed songs, including "Hungama Ho Gaya" by Amit Trivedi for Yaariyan, "Samjhawan" by Sharib-Toshi for Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, "Mast Magan" for 2 States, "Jiya" for Gunday, and "Aaj Phir" by Arko Pravo Mukherjee for Hate Story 2 as well. Singh recorded two songs for Haider with Vishal Bhardwaj and "Jaise Mera Tu" for Happy Ending with Sachin-Jigar. The year featured his cooperation with numerous people.Other composers include Tony Kakkar and Palak Muchhal. He contributed vocals for Mithoon on "Humdard" for Ek Villain and "Hai Dil Ye Mera" for Hate Story 2 throughout the year. He collaborated with Vishal-Shekhar on "Manwa Laage" for Happy New Year and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy on "Sajde" for Kill Dil. He performed on three tracks for Pritam Chakraborty's Holiday, which Singh himself orchestrated, and two songs on Sharib-Zid. Toshi's The song Muskurane by Jeet Gannguli earned him the most nominations for the year, while "Suno Na Sangemarmar" and the Sufi song "Mast Magan" each earned him two Filmfare nominations. Singh selected "Gulon Mein Rang Bhare," originally performed by Mehdi Hassan and rewritten for Haider by Vishal Bhardwaj, as his favourite song of the year.
PERSONAL LIFE:
In 2014, Singh wed Koel Roy, a neighbour and buddy from his youth. They have two kids. Singh is presently a resident of Mumbai's Andheri neighbourhood. Singh claims that in addition to singing, he also plays badminton, writes, loves movies, and makes documentaries. Also, he enjoys cricket, and his favourite athletes are Jonty Rhodes, Lance Klusener, Sourav Ganguly, and Sachin Tendulkar. He is a die-hard supporter of Manchester United and the sport of football. He has also stated a desire to perform the World Cup anthem in Qatar in 2022. He enjoys Saina Nehwal in badminton.
Aditi Singh, Singh's mother, was treated for COVID-19 after being admitted, tested negative, but she passed away on May 20, 2021, as a result of a brain stroke.
